I want to become an actress before I get too old. How do I get started in the acting business?

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I have wanted to be an actress for as long as I can remember. Please list any ideas or suggestions that you have to help get me started.

First you going to have to go to acting schools for training. Not only one but a couple. Then you should get in local plays, school plays, student films. You could search for auditions on craigslist.com or subscribe to backstage.com The you should get headshots that look like you. Professional headshots are pretty expensive they cost $200-$1000 but on craigslist you could find less expensive headshot that range from $50 to $150. As you get more and more credits on your resume, you may want to go for an agent. An agent gets you auditions and they want people who they think would nail all the auditions they give. If you get a part in an audition. The money you make out of that work you pay 10% to your agent. ONLY 10%. If they ask for money upfront they are a SCAM. Once you get an agent you would start getting a lot of auditions which means more audition. As you make money out of roles you make you may want to get professional headshots. Then in the future you may want to join Union such a SAG, AFTRA , AEA…. HOPE I HELPED

What actress is in the classic movie poster showing a brunette sprawled out on a barn floor?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

May be a famous (1940’s or 50’s?) actress along the lines of Elizabeth Taylor. I believe she is on a pile of hay. Also, do you know the name of the movie?

Jane Russell. Gave Marylin and Jayne a run for their money. Even did bra commercials in her 60s.

Can someone give me the name of an actress who best portrays Zoey Redbird?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I just recently read the book "Marked" by P.C. Cast and now I have to do this report on it. I need to include a picture of all the main characters, so I was planning on just using an actress look alike. Does anybody know an actress that might portray Zoey Redbird?

If you go to http://www.houseofnightseries.com and then go in the yearbook section of the site you can find pics of all the characters including some of the ones from the upcoming books.

How can I be a actress? I’m good in acting, but I need to stop stuttering while talkin. What’s the trick?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I need help to stop stuttering. I stutter a lot while I talk but I act very well. I want to make my wish come true and be a actress.

You don’t have to have the help of a pro in order to improve your speech and overcome your stuttering! You just need the right information and the dedication to work on your own and practice. Get the book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" by The Stuttering Foundation of America. It is what helped my family members who couldn’t afford or didn’t have access to a speech pathologist. One uncle who did found that his therapist used this book in her sessions. Give it a try and see if it works for you. It is not a book to just be read through, though. You have to work through it step by step. Meet other young people who stutter here http://groups.myspace.com/stutteringfoundation

How can i start to learn to become an actress? What should i do?

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

I’m thirteen and i’ve been thinking about what i want to do when i’m older, and i’ve decided that i want to become an Actress. At the moment i’m really bad at drama, and i was thinking about going to something along the lines of Stagecoach/Pauline Quirke Academy. But i wasn’t sure if that would actually help me in the future. What should i do? Where should i go? This whole situation is so confusing and frustrating to think that i’m too old to start going to a drama class type thing as i won’t have much experience compared to the others.

You are not going to be a teen professional actress because you do not have the training and experience. Do Stagecoach, be in all the school and community plays you can, that is how to start. It will take a lifetime to finish.

What are some good tips to becoming a disney channel actress?

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I really want to be a disney channel actress. I know A LOT of people say that but i really feel connected when I act and I want to bring that to the screen.

Act if you want to act. Only 7% of actors are actually famous. That means 93% of actors are nobody’s who have a day job to pay the rent for their cheap one bedroom apartment. You can’t act just because you want to be on disney. You have to love it. If there’s anything else you have a passion for,do that instead.

You need a great, reputable agent+passion+drive+talent/connections to be on Disney.

Is taking a Theatre class the best way to learn how to become an Actress?

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

I am currently taking an Acting workshop class for the summer and I was wondering if these types of Theater classes are what I should be taking if I want to become an Actress. I realized while taking this class that there is a difference between being a part of the Theatre world and the Acting world. I would like to be in a couple of commercials along with possibly gaining some small parts in movies in the future but am I starting where I should? I am a beginning Adult actress so all of this is new to me. Thanks for all of your helpful answers.

The short answer is yes. With a foundation in theater you can move on to a foundation in Shakespeare, you can train in Improv which will help you when it comes to commercials and you can take some sort of on camera acting course. The more training you have, the more skills you will possess, the more value you bring to the table as an actor.
