I want to become an actress. I take drama classes and am pretty good. But how can I get recognized?

I am really good at comedy, I admit I still need work though. A lot of girls want to become an actress for the money and fame, that is totaly unlike me.

Try our for a reality show.

Keep developing your talent and keep your name out there. If the casting people know who you are, they might be more willing to give you a chance.

    Good luck…You will need it.
To get recogized, take a big leap, and try out for plays that are going to be awesome or well known.
Just put yourself out there and get ready to get squished, but never get your hopes up too high.

if you know anyone who might know someone big on casting, they might give you some dates for auditions. basically, once you get past the pig problem of finding the auditions, its up to you and your talent to show the casting crew what you can do. if you can find a person who can get you appointments…
(god, i cant remember what they are called)
then you would have a better chance of being recognized. i think people like you and me should get an interview with some kid actor like dakota fanning to tell us how she got so far!

DO NOT do Reality Show you will only get famous for 15 seconds then your legit career will be down the toilet.

I recommend "Breaking into Acting for Dummies" not saying that you are one, it’s just got great info for people like you who are starting out in the business.

Also you need experience. Classes are great, but they won’t get to the attention you need from agents. Legit work in theater or commercials that you can find yourself. Try http://www.actorsaccess.com or http://www.breakdownexpress.com, you do have to pay but it’s what agents use to get casting notices.

    Good luck

My advice is to look in your hometown for an acting troupe. They do performances for children for little or no cost to them, and you get the acting experience. My hometown is small, but I found in the newspaper two different acting troups working out of strip centers, where they set up a stage and chairs. One did modern comedy and the other childrens plays. Also check with your local college. They sometimes need actors that are outside the age range of normal college students. Good Luck!!!

depending on your age you should do the following…

if you are in HS then go out for some local gigs in town and get yourself into some local shows. If no one is interested, get together with some friends and put together something until you get to college.

in college, don’t major in theatre, major in something else like music, english, business, photography… ANYTHING but drama. Just get in and take a few classes and get into shows. If you are good they will keep you around and you won’t get mixed in with the drama wierdos who think the world is a stage.

do short films and get involved in them.

take short seminars or once a week acting/singing/improv classes outside of school and a quickly as you can take your stuff off campus and get into community theatre.

if you can move to a mid size large city and audition, most city papers will have a casting call once a week or so.

Oh yeah, get some headshots and don’t do it at Glamour Shots, be subtile and real

if you dye your hair, stop

then, when you can get some auditions for some small time paying gigs in towns… explore where your talents lie and stick true to that. If you are a fatty, you are going to get parts as the fatty and you should capitalize and specialize on that.

hmmmm… last of all move to NYC when you get done with school or some other big city once you have done at least 5-10 shows. Avoid LA to begin with becuase everyone there thinks they are an actor and your voice (however talented) will get drowned out by all the fools out there who think that they are acting when all they are doing is avoiding growing up and getting a real job.

You will see if you really have what it takes with the responses that you get in the shows you do and just build on that. Take the compliments and understand that the criticism means that at least they are watching. As I always say, there are those who create and then those who criticise those who create because they can’t create anything themselves…

    Hope I helped

I’m an actor too, if you want to get recognized audition for stuff. and don’t be cocky about not making it because it’s bad for image to find out about tryouts look in to an agent or subscribe the magazine Backstage West. that magazine tells you loads of stuff like tryouts and some really good acting tips.
